The Visitor Centre is provided by the Porlock Tourist Association, an independent organisation. The friendly staff will provide you with information about the area, what to do, where to go and where to eat, any help you may require with accommodation, and provide a free accommodation booking service.
The Centre has interesting exhibits and attractive displays. The bones of an Aurochs, discovered on Porlock beach in 1999, are also on display, together with a life size drawing and interpretation boards.
The centre is so much more than a 'Visitor' centre. Our role is constantly evolving and not only are we involved with every aspect of tourism and promotion of the village, but we are a "village centre", dealing with a huge variety of issues.
It organises a voluntary driving scheme to help needy people, act as flood wardens, have become an unofficial job and housing centre and generally try to sort out any problem that arises.
