There are spectacular woodland and riverside walks to Heddon's Mouth along the hogs back sea cliffs to Woody Bay or towards Combe Martin - open all year.

Heddon’s Mouth/Hunter’s Inn: Heddon’s Mouth is in the middle of 12 miles of superbly beautiful, scarcely inhabited, cliff and rocky-cove Exmoor coast (with coast path) stretching from Lynton to Combe Martin. Behind this coast are steep, deep, narrow valleys filled with streams and trees, small fields and old farms below moorland hills, little churches beside hill-side farms, virtually no new buildings, little winding lanes (slow) for cars. Streams and lanes converge at Hunter’s Inn (pub) beneath high wooded hillsides. From there, a stream-side path (easy walk) leads along a steep-sided valley in one mile to the sea at Heddon’s Mouth. There are many other wonderful walks; red deer about and lots of birds; sea views from hill-tops; all idyllically unspoiled and peaceful. Nearest village, Parracombe, 3 miles. For great sand/surf beaches, Woolacombe or Croyde, and great golf, Saunton, all 12-20 miles (on main roads after the first three).

Watersmeet An
enchanting tea garden serving traditional Devon teas in a beautiful setting
where the East Lyn and Hoar Oak Waters meet. Watersmeet House was originally
a fishing lodge, built approximately 1832 and is now a National Trust shop with
refreshments and information. The House is situated at the centre of
the Trust’s dramatic Watersmeet property with its 40 miles of footpaths.
Some of the paths are steep and slippery. Please wear suitable footwear.
